Books Books & More Books

I like to share my stacks of books read in a year...
I confess to being a pretty serious bookworm...I am quite addicted to reading.
The stack read last year was pretty decent (better than 2010's stack I think)...

These ones I loved and thought were pretty fabulous...

These ones I thought were quite good...

These ones I found just okay...

And these ones I really really didn't like!

2012's pile is already looking promising.

What was your favourite read last year???

XO Mandy, the bookworm

Oooh....I love book posts!
I haven't read any books on your stacks but have been thinking about trying out Kate Morton. I am in the middle of The Guernsey Potato Peel Pie and Literacy Society at present and I love it!

Such a lovely post Mandy!

That's quite a stack, Mandy. I usually get mine from the library, so I can't show you a stack. I really enjoyed "A Discovery of Witches" by (I think) Debra Harkness. I'm anxiously awaiting her next volume.

Michele, you should try Kate Morton, I LOVED her books and can't wait for her next one.

Karen, I have this 'thing' where I love hanging onto the books I either really like or love (than I can lend them) but after a year or so, when I need shelf space, I usually donate them. I used to hit the libary hard though when I was a kid...wanting to keep the books I read is a silly little habit, but also being surrounded by books makes me happy sooo...it's not a habit I am trying to break presently, ha ha. PLUS, our little libarey SUCKS!

...but actually I do still use our local libary alot for audio books, which I love to use in the studio.

Stephanie...I will check out the Night Circus, thanks for the link.

Currently I am reading 'the lost memoirs of Jane Austen'...than I plan to read 'Shanghai Girls' and than 'The Sugar Queen', and than 'The Historian', and than and than and than, ha ha ha...

Oh, how I love your books!!! those that you "love" are now being added to my list of books to look for! I am a big Phillipa Gregory fan, so I do believe we have very similar tastes in reading materials!! right now, I'm reading the Hunger Games, a Finance book by S Orman, and a spiritual feeling book by Gabrielle Bernstein!!! Three completely different books, but each quite rewarding in their own ways! LOVE this list!

Oh thanks so so much Leanne:D ha ha. I can not wait for the 3rd and final installment of the cousin’s war by Phillipa Gregory…if you’ve not started that series yet, I highly recommend it, I think they eclipse all of what’s she’s written so far. Kate Morton was my all-time favorite find this year and now a favorite new author…’Little Giant of Aberdeen County’ was quite unique and I will be looking out for more by that author. I am so so glad you like my recommendations. I was thinking of reading the Hunger Games before seeing the movie, my experience is that the book is always far superior…do you find so? I read several books at once as well:D I just finished reading ‘Secret Daughter’ which I thought was quite good and before that a book by Kristin Hannah called ‘Winter Garden’, it was a very good read as well, she tells a story that kinda haunts you, it’s such an intense flashback amidst a rather soft present, an amazing mixture I found. Right now I am reading ‘The lost memoirs of Jane Austen’, I am also reading ‘Creative Living’ by Thomas Kincaid and also ‘This is life and these are the rules’ by scott I believe…my 2012 pile is already looking promising Good luck with your pile. And thanks so so much for visiting my blog.

My favorite books I read in 2011 were The Help, The Book Thief and Water for Elephants. Do you finish the books you don't like? Usually I don't - if I don't like a book by page 100 I stop reading it.
Your pile looks really impressive. You gave me some inspiration!

Hi Carola,

I couldn't even watch all of 'Water For Elephants' so I am glad I didn't attempt the book, which would no doubt have been much more intense and descriptive.

I do finish books even if I don't like them, it's a bad habit but one I can't break, ha ha. I finish them off hoping to find something redeeming in them but sometimes they are just complete and utter flops that leave me puzzled as to how they are published...not that my humble opinion counts for anything of course, ha ha. I also think it's just my mind set 'well I paid for it, so I gotta read the thing'.

...on 2nd thought, you know what I didn't read 'listen to my heart' right to the very end because it was so so awful, I just couldn't take it anymore, ha ha...but I gave it a real go..this one truly turned out to be a complete waste of money but than again I think I only paid a buck for it, back when I worked at Chapters!

Well, you know I am not much of a novel reader, but I will say those shots of your books are awsome. The fact you got through all those books is also amazing considering everything else.

Good thing I built those new book shelves! ;-)
